In and Out: the Narthex Dance
****Re-stocking soon.
I often had envisioned my time with my children in church to be this beautiful moment of peace. Holding my child close to me, or standing together in worship, we would be praying together in grace-filled harmony.
More often than not, this is not the case. In fact, as a mom to four, I have spent many hours rushing in and out with my children in less than peaceful states of chaos. Many times, I questioned the effort made to come to church, the time that felt "wasted" because neither my child or I were in sync enough to be able to stay inside the sanctuary.
It felt like a dance that neither of us were able to participate in. And yet, we continue to struggle because we know the importance of teaching our children our faith, and we pray to God that there will be a time when we can all dance together in the prayerful way He intended.
In and Out: the Narthex Dance illustrates the journey that parent and child go through, the way we learn from each other, to become participants in worship.
